How to get to Ghent?

Ghent is centrally located in Flanders, easily accessible by air, by train or by car.

Belgium’s National Airport is situated in Brussels-Zaventem. From there, you can easily reach Ghent by train. The railway station is located inside the airport building, at the lowest floor.

By train

From the airport, take the direct train to Ghent (railway station Gent St-Pieters) or a shuttle train to Brussels (railway station Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles-Midi) and a train to Ghent from there (direction Brugge-Oostende or Knokke/Blankenberge).

Most international trains (including Thalys and Eurostar) arrive in Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles-Midi. From there, you can take the train to Gent St-Pieters (direction Brugge-Oostende or Knokke/Blankenberge).

There is a train from Brussels to Ghent every 30 minutes till +/- 23.00h.
The trip from the airport to Ghent takes approx. 1 hour, from Brussel Zuid to Ghent less than 30 minutes.
Timetables can be consulted at: http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/index.php

By car

You will probably arrive on highways E17 or E40, which intersect near the city of Ghent

Highway E17:

Follow the direction "Gent", and then take direction "Gent Centrum" (B401)

Highway E40:
