Member holdings
Groups of biological resources stored in the collection: bacteria, archaea, cyanobacteria, plasmids (including plasmid-bearing strains)
KPD, the Collection of Plasmids and Microorganisms, comprises ca. 1,500 strains, of which more than 900 are available for researchers from the industry and academia.
Services offered
Research
KPD has been actively involved in various international research projects focused on bioprospecting of microbial resources, particularly from extreme environments. KPD is open to collaborating with researchers in joint projects.
Quality Management System
KPD makes every effort to ensure the highest possible quality of deposited biological material, which undergoes quality control for viability, purity, authenticity, and data accuracy.
The traceability of the process of depositing, cultivation/ replication, preservation, and distribution of the biological material is entirely followed and documented.
KPD operates in compliance with international guidelines, including the World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) guidelines for culture collections, the Common Access to Biotechnology Resources Information (CABRI) Guidelines, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Best Practice Guidelines for Biological Resource Centers.
