NCPV preserves well-characterised, authenticated human pathogenic viruses in a secure facility, and supplies them to the scientific community according to national and international guidelines. It currently holds over 400 different strains which are supplied as live frozen virus; irradiated viruses are also available for some strains of Coronavirus and Mpox.
NCPV is one of the four collections (ECACC, NCTC, NCPV and NCPF) of the Culture Collections of the UK Health Security Agency.
